About

Hello, I'm Sophie, the creative behind Forest and Dot...

I set up Forest and Dot in 2017 aka A Boat full of Wool on my mission to get people involved in Crafts and learning a new skill for life!

I am a Fibre arts enthusiast and have a passion for keeping heritage crafts alive! I teach a range of workshops for both Adults and Children in Crochet, Knitting, Arm knitting, Weaving, Spinning and Natural dyeing. I am an advocate for working and collaborating with Small independent businesses. I previously worked with a range of venues in the South of England but have recently moved to the North East Coast of Scotland to follow my small holding dreams.

I have combined my love of crafts and the outdoors to create my new brand Forest and Dot.

So how did it all start?

My Nanny, Dot has knitted her whole life and was taught to Knit and Crochet by her late Mother. As a Child I sparked an interest in crafting and my Nanny Dot decided to share her precious skills with Me and began teaching me to Knit when I was 7 years old. I havent put my needles down since and Dot is the inspiration and drive behind my business today.

" If we do not learn these important heritage crafts like Knitting or Crochet or even sewing on a button, when we are young... then how are we suppose to pass on these skill to our Children? "

I cannot let these heritage skills die our in our generations to come so I regularly provide Craft workshops in local Schools teaching Children these key skills for life!

Where I am today...
